Foundation Comparison

Prescriptives Flawless Skin Foundation
Provides seamless coverage that diffuses the look of lines and redness and leaves skin looking radiant, healthy and flawless.

Texture: Smooth, quite heavy, almost a little 'wet' on the skin?
Appearance: Very dewy
Coverage: Full
Skin type: Suitable for all types of skin, except if you have very oily
skin.
Price: USD60
Sun protection: SPF15
Comment: This foundation reminds me a lot of BB cream. The texture is very similar, and just like BB creams, this foundation is made up of skin care + make up. Only difference is that this provides full coverage. It makes my skin look very dewy. But my skin turns into an oil slick within a few hours. Worse thing is that the foundation oxidises and becomes kind of orangey on my skin!

Overall rating:

Prescriptives Virtual Matte Oil-Control Make-up
Oil-control complex with botanical extract absorbs surface shine, contains anti-oxidants.

Texture: A little dry, thick
Appearance: Matte but natural
Coverage: Medium- Full
Skin type: Oily
Price: USD52
Sun protection: SPF 15
Comment: I find this foundation to be OK to use in summer time, but too drying for me during colder months (i have oily/ sensitive skin). It does have very good oil-controlling powers though, hence if you like the dewy look this one will not deliver.

Overall rating:

Nars Oil free foundation
This foundation provides the 'signature' Nars coverage, best to use in conjunction with a foundation brush instead of sponge.

Texture: Thick. Smooth
Appearance: Matte, quite heavy
Coverage: Full
Skin type: Oily
Price: USD73
Sun protection: No SPF
Comment: This foundation is quite expensive, but it does offer full coverage and is excellent at concealing spots and hiding pores. I find it a little too drying and it can become a little bit cakey on the skin, go easy when applying the product.

Overall rating:

Shu Uemura Face Architect Smoothing fluid foundation (formerly known as Water-in smoothing fluid foundation)
Contains 40% Deepsea water to keep the skin moisturised, and also micro-powder to absorb excess oil.

Texture: Very smooth, light weight
Appearance: Semi-dewy to Matte
Coverage: Medium
Skin type: Suitable for all types of skin
Price: USD45
Sun protection: SPF 12
Comment: This product feels very smooth on the skin, it hides pores perfectly and covers redness really well. Although its very light weight foundation, this product somehow managed to clogged my pores a bit after several use.. im not sure why, maybe it consists slightly of silicon? I know Japanese likes to add this ingredient in a lot of their cosmetic products to make them less greasy and more smooth, but silicon does clog pores.

Overall rating:

Shiseido Dual Balancing make up
This foundation provides a 'dual' effect in that it keeps the dry areas moist and supple whilst mattifying oilier areas with its absorbing powders.

Texture: Smooth, creamy
Appearance: Skin appears quite dewy, a natural radiant finish
Coverage: Medium to full
Skin type: suitable for all types of skin
Price: USD38
Sun protection: SPF 15
Comment: I must say im not a huge fan of Shiseido's make up products, but i really do like this foundation. It makes my skin appears supple and dewy, yet it does not have that 'wet' feeling like Prescriptives Flawless foundation. It feels quite fresh on the skin and thanks to the absorbing powders my face does not turn into an oil slick at all. Love it!

Overall rating:

IPSA White Protect C foundation
A foundation + sunscreen + whitening moisturiser in one.

Texture: Very runny consistency, must be applied with a sponge
Appearance: radiant glow and even-toned skin
Coverage: Light- Medium
Skin type: suitable for all types of skin, especially oily
Price: USD50
Sun protection: SPF 25
Comment: This foundation is very light weight, it's only a little thicker than water really. Coverage is OK. You will need a good concealer for hiding darker spots or serious under eye circles. You will feel like you are not wearing any make up at all, and its good for everyday use, especially in the day-time.

Overall rating:

Alima Satin Matte Mineral Foundation
Powder mineral make up

Texture: Soft, creamy powder
Appearance: radiant glow and even-toned skin
Coverage: Light- Medium
Skin type: suitable for all types of skin, especially oily
Price: USD20
Sun protection: No specified SPF. However minerals are light
reflective particles, so it does have a
natural sun protection to a certain extend.
Comment: I love this foundation! Its my favourite. I dont find the minerals drying at all, it actually feels quite creamy. It comes in a small tub and 1 will last you forever. Minerals are highly pigmented so a little goes a long way. I did find my skin to be a little sensitive to it in the beginning, but after several use my skin got used to it. I've never had any breakouts from using this product and the oil-absorbing powers are fantastic. Only down side though is if you need full coverage, this product will not do. What you can do though is use good concealers and a colour-control primer with this foundation, it should give you a much better coverage.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
Luminous Silk foundation is an oil-free fluid with exclusive Micro-fil™ technology, to fill out lines and pores. Its hydrating fluid glides on seamlessly with a silky texture.

Texture: Very smooth, silky
Appearance: Smooth, natural matte/slightly dewy look
Coverage: Full
Skin type: suitable for all types of skin
Price: USD 55
Sun protection: No SPF
Comment: This foundation feels like silk on the skin. It does hide pores and fine lines very well. Your skin will look flawless with this foundation. The only thing i dont like about this foundation is that it contains silicon- which can clog pores.

Overall rating:

MAC Select SPF 15 Foundation
MAC's best selling foundation. A water-based liquid foundation with SPF protection.

Texture: Creamy. Thick
Appearance: Quite matte
Coverage: Medium- full
Skin type: suitable for all types of skin
Price: USD 26
Sun protection: SPF15
Comment: I find this make up a bit too heavy. I really wanted to like this foundation when i bought it, i have seen so many bloggers raved about it. I used it a few days and it made me breakout. I dont think the look is natural enough too.

Overall rating:

Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream
Whitening + Anti-Wrinkle + UV Protection+ foundation all in one.

Texture: Very smooth, creamy.
Appearance: Very dewy, radiant look
Coverage: Very sheer
Skin type: suitable for all types of skim, but i dont think oily girls will like it.
Price: USD21
Sun protection: SPF 42
Comment: I never did like BB creams. But i tried this at the shops on my hand, and my skin looked so dewy and glowing, i couldnt help myself but to purchase it. Then i tried it on my face, and that was totally another story. It felt so oily and sticky on my face, and the colour was bad too. My skin looked a little grey! There were only 2 shades to choose from. It only lasted an hour until i couldnt stand but to wash the product off my face. But i am sure that it would have caused me blocked pores if i left it on for the whole day. Dont like this product at all, lucky it wasnt expensive!

Cle de peau Beaute Teint Naturel Liquide

Texture: Smooth, light weight
Appearance: Natural sheer/ matte look
Coverage: Sheer to Medium
Skin type: suitable for all types of skin
Price: USD100
Sun protection: No SPF
Comment: This foundation is quite nice. It goes on the skin smoothly, and its very light weight. It hides pore quite well but not as well with covering redness and spots. It leaves my skin feeling very fresh and need not to blot much at all through out the day. Quite a lovely foundation if you dont need full coverage.

Overall rating:

YSL Perfect touch brush foundation
A light weight, luminous moisturizing foundation.

Texture: light weight, creamy
Appearance: Radiant soft glow
Coverage: Sheer- Medium
Skin type: suitable for all types of skin
Price: AUD80
Sun protection: Bio-protection UVA (No SPF specified)
Comment: This foundation has a lovely floral scent to it. The tube itself comes with a brush. All you have to do is twist the top, squeeze a little and the foundation will go straight onto the brush, ready for application. Personally i like using a sponge more for applying foundation, its just easier to use and i can control it better.
